Better With Style {JLA Ensemble Fall 2013}

It has been my pleasure to be involved in the fashion design for the J.L. Alston Ensemble at my church. This Fall we have decided on the following colors; black or gray base with orange and blue (and/or white). I've put together a Style Board for both men and women. See below for my idea of how the Ensemble should look on Sunday mornings this Fall. Enjoy!

Fresh Blueberry Cobbler

I got this recipe from Divas Can Cook.com.  After watching the YouTube video of Monique making it, my mouth was watering.  So I cleaned up my slob and high tailed it to the kitchen.  She's right when she says that most of these ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.  I just so happened to

Lena & Laine Boutique in Atlanta!

This past week I traveled to Atlanta with my church for our annual National Way of the Cross Convocation. While I was there I had the opportunity to be a vendor and showcase accessories from L&L Boutique.  Words can hardly describe what a wonderful and exciting time I had. The services and speakers were outstanding, the food was awesome, fellowship was great, and I made a bunch of new friends. Here are some photos leading up to and during thee event. Enjoy!

Fashion Friday {Going to the Movies}

Ok, who dresses up to go to the movies?  I don't! {#aintnobodygottimefordat!} I want to be comfortable, plus it's dark and no one will see what you have on any way...  This outfit is totally something I would wear to the movies, or anywhere for that matter.  Distressed jeans scream casual to me.  Like I always say, keep your basics basic and pump up the accessories.  Skinny jeans and a neutral graphic tee keep this style basic and simple.  A colored blazer because {1} I love blazers {2} It's always cold in the theaters and {3} it's an easy way to add color.  I thought the fedora was cute, plus you can hide your hair under it if you're having a bad hair day...  And yellow flats because blue and yellow love {complement} each other.  The best thing I like about this Chanel bag is that it's small and not cumbersome and it has a shoulder strap so it can stay close to you.  Whose going to the movies tonight?

Summer Beach Look

Red-Orange and Mint Summer Beach Look

When I saw this clutch, I knew I had to style an outfit around it. It's gorgeous and I want it in my closet, but too bad it's currently sold out, bummer! I pulled out the red-orange and mint colors and decided to keep it fresh with white shorts. You don't have to show all your goods to look good at the beach this summer! Additionally, Lena and Laine Boutique sells a pair of mint earrings that match this outfit perfectly.

Here are a few of my favorite style tips for those of you looking to achieve a similar look:

1. Don't wear more than 3 colors at a time.
2. Use one color as your base or neutral color. {in this style scenario, I used tan/gold}
3. Don't be afraid to wear different sades of the same color. {orange, coral, red-orange, tangerine...etc.}
4. Use solid colored pieces to keep the look from being too busy. {solid colored ruffle top and shorts}.
